I’m really excited that my book Tinnitus Treatment Toolbox won in the Non-Fiction Health category for the 2013 Eric Hoffer Awards for Books and Prose. These awards were founded by the Eric Hoffer Estate and their mission statement is “to honor freethinking writers and independent books of exceptional merit.”

US Review of Books describes my winning book as follows:
Tinnitus Treatment Toolbox, J. L. Mayes, Trafford Publishing – The condition of tinnitus remains an elusive and frustrating entity for both sufferers and caregivers. The subjective nature of the complaint and difficulty in designing studies to assess treatment strategies create obstacles to understanding. In this book, the author, herself affected by tinnitus, explains the nature of the condition and provides detailed case reports from her own practice. While acknowledging the difficulty in accomplishing a cure, the author’s commonsense methods offer hope for coping with this problem. The clinical material is clear and free of medical jargon; there is a welcome absence of miracles. The book includes a list of resources and a comprehensive bibliography. http://www.theusreview.com/USRhoffer.html#health
Tinnitus Treatment Toolbox can be ordered at online or local bookstores in e-book, softcover and hardcover formats. Multiple copy discounts (e.g. for support groups or group workshops) are available through Trafford Publishing (orders@trafford.com).
